One hundred years of art and culture

Hotel Continental has been associated with art and culture since actors and other artists made Theatercaféen their regular meeting place in the early 1900s.

The founder of the hotel, Caroline Boman Hansen, instructed the staff to “Look after the artists”, marking the beginning of a tradition that is manifest today in our impressive collection of works by Edvard Munch, the glass art displayed in selected rooms, the sculptures in the lobby and not least the portraits in Theatercaféen.
